FIRE SUPPRESSION SERVICE & INSPECTION

Haight Fire is a full fire suppression system installer, inspector, and service provider.

Haight Fire Equipment & Supply designs, installs, inspects, and services fire suppression systems for commercial and industrial businesses throughout Orange, Westchester, Dutchess, Rockland, Putnam, and Sullivan Counties in New York, Fairfield County CT, and Bergen County NJ.

Our certified technicians are factory trained and authorized on every major suppression system platform — from wet chemical kitchen systems and clean agent server room protection to vehicle suppression and industrial paint booth systems. If your business requires a suppression system, Haight Fire can design it, install it, and keep it compliant.

Different Types
Of Fire Suppression Services

Not all fire suppression systems are the same. The correct system depends on what you are protecting, what type of fire hazard is present, and what code applies to your occupancy. Haight Fire works across every suppression system type used in commercial and industrial settings.

Clean Agent  Fire Suppression Systems

Clean agent systems use gaseous suppression agents — FM200, Novec 1230, or CO2 — to extinguish fires without water, foam, or residue. They are the correct solution wherever water damage would be as destructive as the fire itself: server rooms, data centers, telecommunications equipment, electrical panels, archival storage, and luxury garages.

Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems

Vehicle suppression systems are dry chemical systems installed in engine compartments to automatically suppress fires in transit buses, coach buses, over-the-road trucks, and commercial fleets. They activate automatically on heat detection, suppressing the fire before it reaches the passenger compartment or spreads to other vehicles. Haight Fire installs and services vehicle suppression systems for transit authorities, school districts, charter operators, and commercial fleet owners throughout the Hudson Valley and tri-state area.

Kitchen Hood Suppression Systems

Wet chemical suppression systems are required over all commercial cooking equipment under NFPA 96 and New York State fire code. These systems discharge a wet chemical agent that suppresses flames and cools cooking surfaces, preventing re-ignition. Kitchen systems must be inspected every 6 months and fusible links replaced at each visit — Haight Fire manages this automatically through AutoBook. We service and install systems for restaurants, commercial kitchens, school cafeterias, hotel food service operations, and any business with cooking equipment generating grease-laden vapors.

Fuel Canopy Suppression Systems

Fuel canopy suppression systems protect gas station dispensing areas from fire. They are required by fire code for most commercial fueling stations and must be regularly inspected and maintained. Haight Fire designs, installs, and services fuel canopy systems using dry chemical agents rated for flammable liquid fires.

Industrial Suppression Systems

Paint booths, mixing rooms, CNC cutting operations, and hazardous material storage areas present fire hazards that standard suppression systems are not designed to address. Haight Fire designs custom industrial suppression systems engineered to the specific hazard class, square footage, and ventilation conditions of each facility. Industrial systems are built to NFPA standards applicable to the specific occupancy and hazard classification.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does a fire suppression system need to be inspected in New York?

Inspection frequency depends on system type. Kitchen wet chemical systems require inspection every 6 months under NFPA 96 and NFPA 17A. Clean agent systems require annual inspection. Vehicle and fuel canopy systems follow semi-annual or annual schedules depending on the applicable NFPA standard. Haight Fire AutoBook manages all schedules automatically.

Is a fire suppression system required for my business in New York?

Most commercial occupancies with cooking equipment, hazardous materials, or high-value equipment are required to have suppression systems under New York State fire code and NFPA standards. Restaurants require kitchen hood suppression under NFPA 96. Server rooms, paint booths, and vehicle fleets have their own requirements. Haight Fire can assess your specific occupancy.

What is the difference between a suppression system and a sprinkler system?

Sprinkler systems use water and are designed for general building fire protection. Suppression systems use targeted agents — wet chemical, dry chemical, clean agent gas, or CO2 — to suppress fires in specific high-risk areas where water would be ineffective or cause additional damage. Most businesses need both: sprinklers for general protection and a suppression system for the kitchen, server room, or other specific hazard area.

What types of fire suppression systems does Haight Fire install?

Haight Fire installs wet chemical kitchen hood systems, clean agent systems including FM200 and Novec 1230, dry chemical vehicle suppression systems, fuel canopy systems, and custom industrial suppression systems for paint booths, mixing rooms, and hazardous storage areas.

How do I know what type of suppression system my business needs?

The correct system depends on your occupancy type, the specific fire hazard present, and the applicable NFPA standard. A Haight Fire certified safety engineer can assess your facility and specify the correct system. Call (845) 562-6485 to arrange a consultation.

Does Haight Fire design new suppression systems?

Yes. Haight Fire handles full system design, installation, certification, and ongoing service. Our certified safety engineers design systems to NFPA standards for your specific occupancy, hazard classification, and equipment layout. We work with general contractors and architects on new construction and tenant buildout projects.

What suppression system brands does Haight Fire service?

Haight Fire is factory trained and authorized to install and service Amerex, Buckeye, Range Guard, Rotarex, Fire Trace, Denlar, Janus, and PemAll suppression systems. Factory authorization ensures access to genuine parts, current service bulletins, and maintained system certification.

What happens if my suppression system fails inspection in New York?

A failed inspection can result in a violation notice from the fire marshal, required re-inspection within a set window, and in serious cases a conditional use permit or stop-use order until the system is brought into compliance. Haight Fire AutoBook schedules your inspections proactively so violations are avoided before they happen.

What areas does Haight Fire serve for suppression system service?

Haight Fire provides suppression system inspection, installation, and service throughout Orange, Dutchess, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, and Sullivan Counties in NY; Fairfield County, CT; Bergen County, NJ; and Long Island. Call (845) 562-6485 to schedule service.

Can Haight Fire service a suppression system installed by another company?

Yes. Haight Fire can inspect, certify, and service suppression systems regardless of who installed them, provided the system is a platform we are authorized to service. If you have inherited a system and are unsure of its service history, Haight Fire can assess its condition and bring it into compliance.

Inspection Frequency by System Type

Different suppression systems have different inspection schedules under NFPA standards. Here is what applies to each system type:

— Kitchen wet chemical systems (NFPA 96 / NFPA 17A): every 6 months, fusible links replaced at each visit
— Clean agent systems (NFPA 2001): annual inspection, cylinder weight check, nozzle verification
— Vehicle suppression systems (NFPA 17): annual inspection, agent level check, activation test
— Fuel canopy systems (NFPA 17): semi-annual inspection
— Industrial dry chemical systems (NFPA 17): semi-annual or annual depending on hazard classification

Haight Fire AutoBook tracks every system type independently and contacts you before each inspection is due — regardless of which system you have or how many locations you operate.

Insure your safety. Haight Fire is insured and our technicians have the proper fire certifications.

BARCODING SYSTEM

Every extinguisher we service is tagged and entered into the HaightFire Barcode System — our proprietary digital tracking platform. Each unit gets a unique barcode that stores its full service history, inspection dates, maintenance records, and next due date. If you manage multiple properties or dozens of units across a building, you have a complete compliance record at your fingertips — no paper files, no guesswork during a fire marshal visit.

HAIGHTFIRE
AUTOBOOK

Most businesses miss inspection deadlines not because they don't care — but because no one told them it was time. AutoBook is Haight Fire's automated reminder system. After every service visit, your account is scheduled for the next required inspection and we contact you before the date arrives. You do not need to track inspection cycles, remember NFPA 10 intervals, or manage service calendars. We handle it. For businesses with multiple sites or high unit counts, AutoBook runs across all locations simultaneously.
